The Amber Alert for Kingston Frazier has been cancelled. The child was found dead inside a vehicle in Gluckstadt this morning. Hours before being found Frazier was in a car that was stolen from the parking lot of the Kroger Grocery Store on the Interstate 55 Frontage Road in north Jackson. After the crime occurred an appeal was made for his release to the kidnappers by a member of the child's family.
There is no city water service in Vicksburg and the outage could last for several days after a 36 inch main ruptured. Anyone who would like to provide bottled water to assist the thousands of people in the River City who are in need can take donations to the business office of The Radio People at 265 Highpoint Drive in Ridgeland.
Executive committees have one week in which to certify the municipal election runoff results and name the candidates who will advance to the June 6, 2017 General Election. There were only a few districts with races across central Mississippi Tuesday. In Canton, former Mayor William Truly defeated incumbent Mayor Arnell Bolden & in that city's Ward 1 race for alderman, Rodriquez Brown beat Roberto Williams and in Ward 2 it was Fred Esco over Renee Truss. Aaron Banks was the winner against Ernest Slaughter in Jackson's Ward 6. The Pearl Ward 3 alderman runoff was taken by Johnny Steverson who was challenged by Becky Tullos-Jones.
The NCAA is being asked to relocate the softball regional which opens tomorrow in Oxford. The request was made by the Mississippi NAACP. The organization opposes symbols of the Confederacy, including the one on the state flag. Organization State President Derrick Johnson says it is not enough to oppose symbols of racism for basketball or golf and then ignore the same for baseball and softball. Johnson also says if the NCAA truly opposes states where the Confederate Flag is flown prominently, they must oppose it in all instances.
